The book “Men, Myths and Monsters” first showcased the medieval carvings on the ceiling of All Saints’ and created a good deal of academic interest in the photographs of the apparent hotchpotch of images.
As part of the ceiling refurbishment, we have published a website showing all the carvings on the ceiling – https://www.thegazeleyceiling.org.uk/
Dr. Sarah Cassell, an independent academic, mapped the positions of all the carvings and Pat Spillane painstakingly photographed each one at high resolution. Paula Wright and Pat then designed the beautiful website which is a comprehensive resource for anyone wanting to study Gazeley church’s important medieval ceiling.
In the process of photographing the ceiling, even older carvings on the roof of the nave have also been recorded on the website, three of them are shown below.

We are immensely grateful to Paula and Pat for this important contribution to our local history.
