Owls in October. Again. 10 Oct 2020

Last year’s Owls in October event was so popular that we have decided to stage it again, this time on a Saturday.

Kindly sponsored by CB8 Magazine, Hawkeye Falconry UK will be bringing their owls to Gazeley Church and will be performing two shows so that we can maintain social distancing: the first at 10.00 am and the second at 11.15 am.

Tickets are limited to up to 4 people in a group in numbered pews, except for slightly larger groups of close family members. Adults should wear masks, although children are not obliged to do so. Latex gloves will be provided for people wishing to wear the falconry gloves and to hold the birds. We will have a one way system in place and will be applying the regulations which allowed us to earn the “We’re Good To Go” certificate from the English Tourist Board, and to hold the Affordable Art Show in August.

Tickets cost £5 for adults and children over the age of 5. Under 5’s are free but they will still need a ticket. We will need your contact details, both for the Track and Trace regulations, and to be able to refund payment should the Covid rules change and force us to cancel the event. Any profits will be donated to Gazeley Church.

Tickets are available by phone from Maggie Pugh for the 10.00 am show, and from Margaret Gash for the 11.15 am show.Their telephone numbers are on the poster. Please pay in cash or by cheque made out to Gazeley PCC. We are sorry but we can’t handle card payments.

Rosemary’s Retirement

With great sadness, we said goodbye on 30 August to Rosemary as she officiated at her last service as Priest in Charge of the Benefice. After a very well attended and beautiful service, Simon Gash made a heartfelt speech of thanks, as Rosemary was presented with gifts of paintings, flowers and chocolates, bought as a result of very generous contributions made by all the parishes in the Benefice.

We all wish Rosemary and Andrew a very happy retirement, and are quite sure that neither of them has any intention of giving up work.

The Benefice will now enter an interregnum, with no Priest in Charge, until a successor is appointed. Visiting ministers will continue to officiate where possible. A diary of future services can be seen on the Diary page of this website.

Thank you all for your support

The Affordable Art Show last weekend was very successful, thanks to tremendous support from our participating artists and willing volunteers. A very special thank you is due to the visitors ( upwards of 400) who came along and bought artworks and/or made generous donations, enabling £1406.18 to be raised for the Church.

This money is very welcome as the Church is badly in need of funds, particularly as lockdown has kept congregations and visitors away. Donations can be made on our donations page.
