Taize Service

This is a very special, reflective service. Originally practised by the monks of Taize, France, Taizé Prayer is evening prayer for all Christian faiths. It is a simple, meditative form of worship. Prayerful silence and short readings guide the focus of the prayer in a candle-lit environment.

Medieval life, Myths and Beliefs

We have a splendid exhibition of photographs of the sixteenth century carvings on the chancel wagon roof. These fascinating carvings are extremely rare, some are possibly unique, and depict ordinary people, animals and mythical creatures.

The exhibition runs throughout August, September and October and is not to be missed.

Here are a few examples.

Sciapod

Sciapods were mythical men were said to live in hot climates, and used their single, oversized foot as a parasol.

Writers on mediaeval English churches claim that the church of Dennington St. Mary has the only known carving of this mythical bigfooted creature.

Donations will be used to support the soon to be launched toilet installation fund. Do pay a visit!

APCM and Elections

The Annual Parochial Church Meeting of All Saints’ Gazeley will be held in the Church at 7.00 pm on Monday 24th May, when we will review our activities over the past year and our plans for the future. Anyone whose name appears on the Church Electoral Roll may attend this meeting and also vote in the elections of the lay members of the Parochial Church Council (PCC) for the year 2021/22 and of the PCC’s representative on the Deanery synod. (If you would like your name to be added to the Roll, please contact Simon Gash by email (gash4414@gmail.com) or phone (01638 552890).

The election of the churchwardens for 2021/22 will take place on the same occasion and voting for that is open to all persons who are resident in the parish and whose names are entered on the register of local government electors.
